Thanks Jon. If anyone else has any useful tips to share, then please email them to me - I'd love to have them on the blog (with appropriate attribution of course).Removing the ‘sign-up' link from the Quickr homepage
Run the following using XMLACCESS PortalServer\QPG\Teamspace\Teamspace\teamspace\config\xmlaccess\HideSignUpPage.xml
Prevent all authenticated users from being able to create a placeAs an Administrator go to Site Administration -> Advanced Administration -> Manage Pages -> Content Root -> Home -> Click the Permissions icon next to Create New
Edit the User Role
Remove All Authenticated Portal Users
Click Add
Add the users who are allowed to create places (eg I have an AllTrovus group so anyone who works for us can create places but those outside the company who we might open a place up to cannot).

Thanks, this information is very interesting.
Yeah, but you are still able to create a place (home --> manage places --> new...), am I right?
How can I prevent this?
The XMLAccess to remove sign up link from the login page did not work for us.
There is another simple method to remove the link, however.
If you go to the Quickr's administration page, in Portlet Management, find the login portlet, you can configure it and there is a setting for showing the sign up link. Change its value to "no" and it will remove the sign up link.
Thanks for the tip, Ming.
To Tomi:
To prevent "Manage Places" from showing once again you can go to Home/Manage places and remove All authenticated users from the user role.
Is it possible to import a template using xmlaccess? I've tried various methods but none have worked so far.
If anyone knows how to do this could they please let me know.
