If you're looking to deploy Lotus Quickr to your end-user community, you're probably looking at how to train those users.  There are a number of good Quickr training resources out there from various different training vendors including IBM and third parties.

However, this one really caught my eye:

TLCC user training for Quickr 8 is the easiest, most effective way to train thousands of users simultaneously - at an incredibly low cost-per-user. For a low one time license price (significantly less than the cost of other training options) you get the two courses you need to train your users on the Quickr 8 Connect client and the Quickr 8 Meeting Room client.

The Quickr 8 user site license includes the following Quickr courses:

o Using Quickr 8 - covers how to use a Quikr place including the Connectors. This course is for the majority of Quickr users who will be accessing content and collaborating in a Quickr place using My Files and My Places.
o Creating and Managing a Quickr 8 Place - covers how to create and manage a Quickr place (available in December, 2008.)
Why did I find this offer interesting? Well, two reasons.

First, the site licensing seems really good value to me.

Second, the training is delivered via Notes database:
Flexible Delivery - TLCC’s user courses are delivered as a set of Notes databases which are easily deployed in your existing Quickr implementation. The courses can be taken using a Notes client or a web browser. The advantages of TLCC's flexible delivery are:

    * The course is delivered to each student's workstation using your existing Quickr server infrastructure.
    * No additional hardware, software or licensing requirements.
    * No additional classroom, travel, or out-of-office costs.
    * The course content can be customized using a Notes client to meet your specific requirements and to deploy, administer and support the course.
    * Integrated student activities are highly interactive and provide immediate reinforcement of the lessons.
    * No simulations are used. Real student activities are the most effective and engaging way to reinforce learning.

I think this is great to see - using the Lotus technology itself to deliver the training.  All the details are available over on the TLCC (The Learning Continuum Company) site.

1) Quickr end user training
David Schaffer 11/25/2008 20:12:11

I think using a Notes application to deliver the training is a great idea. But I'm concerned about the notion of focusing on "Here's a product, learn it." I would think it would be much more relevant and enticing to end users to structure a course around "How to manage documents collaboratively" or "How to work with others on a project" and then introduce the Quickr features in the context of solving a task. Why would the typical end user be interested in learning one more software product?

2) It Comes from Boca too!

The funny thing is Howard who runs tlcc is right here in Boca!

I saw this earlier today and thought of it but you posted it first.

On the flip side I prefer real training in person so maybe i should publicize our Quickest Quickr Training in the South program.

Inquiries within.

3) Good ideas

@1 I'd agree in a lot of cases, but it's hard to sell training packages on that basis. Definitely "a day in the life" is great when delivering on-site.

@2 Keith - you are the consummate salesman, Sir. I bow before you...
