The Quickr Blog

As with earlier releases of Lotus Quickr, I don't intend to cover every HF (HotFix) that is released for 8.1 - there are too many of them, and it highlights the small number of issues in the product rather than the positives.

However, as many Quickr customers will have just upgraded to 8.1, I think it's really important to get the first set of patches installed in order to catch any significant problems with the new release.

So here we have 8.1-Quickr-Domino-HF2, available from IBM Fix Central:

As you can see, this is only available for the Windows platform.  Delving a little deeper:

Don't worry about the reference to Quickplace 7.0 - this is definitely a fix for Quickr 8.1! It is also a pretty small download, but fixes over 20 smaller problems (see full post for the list of files replaced and issues solved).   Something that seems a little odd to me is that 90% of the updates in the HF seem to be to multi-platform rather than Windows-specific files, so I would have thought that there should be versions of the HF for i5/os and AIX as well - the same issues must be present there.  Maybe IBM is checking the fixes work (and that there are no regression problems) on Windows, and then HF3 will be a multi-platform fix pack?

The installation is a straightforward, though manual, process.  Stop Quickr, backup the data directory and program files. Copy a number of updated files into place. Start Quickr. Upgrade your places.  One day I hope that IBM provides an automated installer, but until then, one just needs to be careful and methodical in applying the HFs.
