A couple of updates:
The eGA delay was shorter than predicted, and the Lotus Quickr 8.2 gold code was published over the weekend. Go get it from your friendly PassportAdvantage or Partnerworld site. The customer feedback has been tremendous so far, with many reporting significant performance improvements. John Head seems to sum this up rather well:

Rob Novak and the SNAPPS team have just published the latest release of their fabulous opensource Quickr templates to support the new release, and have included some significant enhancements at the same time, most notably to the QMeeting template and the advanced workflow engine. Grab the latest versions from QuickrTemplates.com.

Seriously, I am not sure how but the speed improvements are huge. Hard to measure but everything from page load to ldap lookups to the discussion are faster. The only thing that seems to take 'too long' is initial log in.
I went straight to the Quicr Template site and didn't see any info beyond 8.1 support.
Ahh..once at the download page the version support is listed as up to 8.2.0.0.. time to change the main page text perhaps
