As Darren Duke (and others) spotted yesterday, the first fixpack for Lotus Quickr 8.5 Services for Domino (8.5.0.1) has begun to appear on the Interwebs.

However, the announcement letter for the first point release (8.5.1) was published today:

IBM Lotus Quickr 8.5.1 for Domino adds significant enhancements for users with important business content who need to collaborate with colleagues, clients, and partners

IBM Lotus Quickr is team collaboration software that helps you access and interact with the people and information in your organization to complete projects effectively. IBM Lotus Quickr 8.5.1 for Domino provides additional features to the newly released Lotus Quickr 8.5 for Domino including:
  • Support for Domino Off-Line Services, which enables users to create a copy of a Quickr Place on their local machine, make changes to the local copy without a network connection, and then synchronize changes on the server when reconnected to the network (Microsoft Windows users only).
  • Availability of Hebrew and Arabic national language versions so now all national languages are supported.
  • Import and export support for Microsoft Excel 2007 formatted files into the new "List" feature for structured content. Lists were first introduced in Lotus Quickr 8.5 for Domino.
  • Easy, direct upgrade process from Lotus Quickr for Domino 8.1, 8.2, and 8.5.
  • Support for Lotus Connections 3.
  • Support for Lotus Sametime 8.5.1.
So, there's the big news - off-line support, additional languages, support for Excel 2007 import to lists (but not Excel 2010 which is interesting), a more straightforward upgrade process from earlier versions and probably most importantly, support for the latest releases of Connections and Sametime.

So (as Darren spotted) we now have the Windows and AIX releases of 8.5.0.1 available for download, whilst the announcement letter itself suggest availability of 8.5.1 will come a little later:
Planned Availability Date

December 16, 2010: Electronic availability
January 14, 2011: Media availability
So, if you're one of the organisations that has been holding off upgrading to Quickr 8.5 until 'the fix first pack is available' (I've heard that one a few times!), then now is the time to crack on and plan your upgrade (whether you go with 8.5.0.1 or 8.5.1)!

1) Excel 2010 is same file format?
Luis Benitez 12/7/2010 14:58:16

Stuart, thanks for spreading the news on the announcement. I understand the file format for Excel 2010 is the same file format for Excel 2007. If so, it should work and it's supported. Unless, I'm missing something?

2) You’re right AFAIK
Stuart McIntyre 12/7/2010 17:39:35

I think you're right Luis, I'd forgotten that. However, it seems strange that Excel 2010 wasn't mentioned in the announcement.

3) Domino 8.5.2 ?
Cristian 12/8/2010 3:07:48

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that Quickr 8.5.1 is not compatible with Domino 8.5.2 . Am I right?

4) Domino 8.5.2
Stuart McIntyre 12/8/2010 13:22:30

Hmmm - Quickr 8.5.0 mandates "Lotus Domino 8.5.1 Fix Pack 3 Interim Fix 2 or later Lotus Domino 8.5.1 fixpack", with no mention of Domino 8.5.2 { Link }

Unfortunately the DSR aren't out yet for Quickr 8.5.1 - I would assume that 8.5.2 will be supported. We'll see!

5) Windows 7 64 Bit?
Christian Majewski 12/8/2010 15:43:55

Do the Quickr 8.5.1 Connectors support Windows 7 64 Bit OS?

6) No support for 8.5.2
Luis Benitez 12/8/2010 18:56:48

@Stuart, yeah, that got me confused at first too (the lack of mention of Excel 2007 **or later**).

@Cristian, no support for 8.5.2 in this release and still no support for Windows Explorer on 64-bit. that's coming soon

7) Lotus Quickr 8.5.1 for Domino Fix list?
Tim E. Brown 1/4/2011 23:45:05

Is there a fix list anywhere for Lotus Quickr 8.5.1 for Domino? Can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet!

TIA,

Tim E. Brown

8) Connectors to work with Quickr Offline?
Alexey Zimarev 2/14/2011 13:31:41

The most interesting for me if connectors will work with offline Quickr as Live Mesh 2011. The real client-server sync feature is what I miss the most in Quickr files.

9) microblog
Alessandro 2/22/2011 16:13:24

Does Quickr works as a microblog?

Does Quickr works as a microblog?

11) Sorry
Stuart McIntyre 2/22/2011 16:20:18

Sorry Alessandro, no it doesn't. That functionality is in Lotus Connections.

12) Tired of making excuses
Lyn Rees 6/7/2011 17:05:17

But where are the Mac connectors and the iPhone and iPad apps?

I'm tired of making excuses... worse than useless!

13) iphone quickr app
Fred 6/14/2011 17:49:39

Lyn 12) There is an iphone/ipad app for Quickr by Snapps - get it at { Link }

There is a Mac/Linux AIR app that lets you connect to Quickr, not as nice as the connector but still useful.

{ Link }

14) Offline places
Joe Mocke 10/4/2011 21:44:57

Support for Domino Off-Line Services, which enables users to create a copy of a Quickr Place on their local machine, make changes to the local copy without a network connection, and then synchronize changes on the server when reconnected to the network (Microsoft Windows users only).

The Problem We have as if you open this place offline it does not display the ull page and you get the Error dojo is undefiled on IE and Firefox just shows the place without any tabs or links to to place
