If you were at Lotusphere last week you may have heard Practising Law Institute's PLI XChange solution mentioned in the Social Software keynote. It appears to be an excellent solution, building on Lotus Quickr, Sametime and Connections to create a focused platform for lawyers to use for collaboration. Yesterday PLI announced that they will be demonstrating the solution at a major US-based show::
Practising Law Institute (PLI) today announced that it will be demonstrating PLI XChange at Incisive Media's Legal Tech Trade Show in New York City on February 2-4.I'd love to have seen more of these kinds of solutions at Lotusphere - focused on solving business needs rather than just tooling, and integration of multiple Lotus products into a seamless platform:
PLI XChange is the legal profession's first online learning and collaboration service designed to bring the power of enterprise social networking through IBM Lotus software to its extensive audience of legal professionals. Unlike existing networking services, PLI XChange not only provides the necessary platform and tools for legal professionals to gain and share knowledge in their areas of interest or expertise, it also allows them to network with PLI faculty and PLI attendees to share ideas, create new business relationships and engage in peer-to-peer learning.
PLI XChange is built on IBM's Lotus Quickr, Sametime, Domino and Connections software. This set of social software, running on IBM xSeries hardware, provides PLI with the building blocks for profile sharing, instant messaging, blogging, wikis, RSS feeds, widgets, task planning and execution, virtual meetings and web conferences, online document sharing, folksonomy, and directory services. "We are very pleased to be working with PLI on this first-of-a-kind effort to advance the legal profession through social software," said Jeff Schick, Vice President of Social Software at IBM. I looked through the conference agenda and there is no mention of this as a session (unless I didn't see it).
Is it something they are demo-ing on the exhibits floor?
