After all, it's good to Share Points of interest like this, isn't it ;-)

Key points for me in any competitive situation I get into are points 3 and 4...

3. No rip-and-replace. A lot of customers are feeling pressured (some might say railroaded) into the significant upgrade to Vista and Office 2007, despite seeing negligable benefits in doing so, just so that the rest of the MS stack is kept in step.  Lotus Quickr works with just about any type of file (including OpenOffice/ODF) and the Office Connectors integrate directly with Office2003 and Office2007, thus meaning that the organisation can focus on improving collaboration amongst its users and departments, not on a costly and disruptive upgrade program.

4. No batteries required.  Whilst Sharepoint Services is often viewed as a "free" solution by many departments as its included in many MS server licences, if you wish to derive any real value from the solution, it is very easy to rapidly be forced into deploying many other parts of the MS stack, including SQL Server, most at extra cost.  Well, Lotus Quickr is different... All components required to generate true value from the solution are included... out of the box.  LDAP directory, relational database etc.

Lotus Quickr really does have significant advantages over the opposition, and it's time to really make the most of these in your organisation or your customers.  As Ed might say, "Go Offense"!

@ Stephan, As far as I know, IBM doesn't yet have firm plans but I believe that this is high on their list for next year.

Stuart,

You the part which had me scratching my head is you need to keep MOSS2.0 installed for MOSS3.0 to work! So you need 2 infrastructures to support one?

Very odd, I blogged abotu it at my site after a MS presentation.

Are there any plans to build QuickR Connectors to support OpenOffice and other non-proprietary sofware?

Hi Ben,

Quickr and Open Office... No, there isn't currently a connector (at Quickr 8.0), though of course you can use the standard Windows connector to save files from OpenOffice to Quickr places. However, with Quickr 8.1 due for release this quarter, they are integrating much better with Lotus Symphony, which as you probably know if IBM's free (and supported) version of OpenOffice, so that I think this will feature the sideshelf integration in the same way that Quickr will work with Notes8.

HTH, Stuart
