Any users of the Expanded Membership Model that wish to upgrade to Quickr 8.1 should just hold off for a while, as this technote makes clear:

Lotus Quickr 8.1 for Domino - Support for Expanded Membership Model (EMM)
Flash (Alert)

Abstract

This document outlines support for the Expanded Membership Model (EMM) in IBM Lotus Quickr services for Lotus Domino.

Content

Lotus Quickr 8.1 services for Domino supports the Expanded Membership Model (EMM). However, there are known issues that will be addressed after the initial product availability with a consolidated hotfix. When this fix is available, we will update this technote with more information. You can also check directly on Fix Central to see what fixes are available for Lotus Quickr 8.1.

Existing customers that use EMM should wait until the hotfix is made available before moving to Lotus Quickr 8.1.

If you do not currently use the Expanded Membership Model but wish to do so in the future, you can install Lotus Quickr 8.1 now. Before you begin using EMM, however, you should apply the cumulative hotfix for EMM issues when it becomes available.
I personally don't know any organisations using the EMM feature, but if this is relevant to your setup, then you will need to wait for the hotfix.
